Welcome

Registration for 2019-2020 Season

Registration for Farmington Youth Hockey Association (FYHA) is a two step process.  First you must register with USA Hockey, and then with us.  -- Don't worry, we'll walk you through the process step-by step.

Step 1: Register with USA Hockey

All of our players must be registered with USA Hockey in order to participate.  Please go to USA Hockey to register.

  • Go to www.usahockeyregistration.com
  • Click "Ice Players & Coaches" and "Register Now" (on the right side)
  • Check the box and click "Continue" if you are 18 or over
  • Select the 2019/2020 Season
  • Follow the rest of the step-by-step process online, remembering to save your "confirmation number" as it will need to be input on this Farmington Hockey registration system.  (It will also be emailed to you)
  • Note: There is a small fee to register with USA Hockey. A credit/debit card is required to do so.

**You will then return to THIS online registration system and proceed to fill out the following pages and pay via Visa, MasterCard or Discover to complete the process.**

If you have already completed your USA Hockey registration, then

Please read the following pages carefully to understand your obligations and responsibilities regarding your Farmington Youth Hockey Association registration.

Volunteer Policy

A $400.00 volunteer fee will be collected at the Annual FYHA Open House in September. The $400.00 check will be destroyed by FYHA at the conclusion of the year based on the rules covered in the volunteer agreement, to include 9 volunteer hours worked. Grievances will be decided by the Board.

The player(s) name that the volunteer check is written for must be in the memo section of the check.

Each family can opt-out of their volunteer obligations during registration by selecting and paying the $400.00 Volunteer Opt-Out Fee. This opt-out is only available through the online season registration.

Pony volunteer policy:

A $400.00 volunteer fee will be collected at the Annual FYHA Open House in September. Each family is required to work during one 3 hour volunteer session throughout the year.  If your volunteer hours are not completed, your volunteer check will be cashed.

For Pony players with older sibling in Mite or above, the non-pony volunteer policy prevails.

Farmington Youth Hockey thanks our parents for their time and commitment as you are doing your part to keep hockey as affordable as possible for all of our skaters.

Upper Level Fees

UPPER LEVEL TEAMS:  For the 2019-2020 year you will be billed via monthly ice-bills that will vary from team to team.  For 2019-2020, you will be required to bring a $300 check to the first practice after which point your monthly ice bills will be delivered to you by your financial manager.  We expect the values in the table below to be approximate costs for the season, but based upon your teams spending, this will vary.

The Estimated total reflects a team who spends to FYHA policy.  If your team chooses to spend additional money on jerseys, apparel, or additional ice instruction your fees could be higher.

ELITE TEAM NOTICE:  We have found that "A" and/or "AA" level teams desire to maximize game allowance, tournaments and pay for additional items not in our budget.  Players making "A" or "AA" teams should expect approximately $200 in additional cost above the posted costs below spread throughout the season.

Raffle Fundraiser or Administrative Donation-

NON-PONY Families

The Farmington Youth Hockey Association is a Non-Profit Organization that needs to be creative in raising funds to help pay for essentials to keep our association running.  Our donation or Raffle Ticket program is one of our major fundraisers with the funds used for various expenses on a year to year basis. (Team jerseys, goalie equipment, insurance fees, website fees, etc.)

You will be paying for this years raffle tickets at the FYHA Open House on September 14th or at the first day of tryouts/evaluations. In exchange for your $100 fee per skater, we will provide you 10 tickets or you may choose to make a $100 donation to the Association instead of selling raffle tickets.  There is a cap of $200.00 per family.

You will have the option of selling your raffle tickets to friends and family ($10 Ea) to recover your cost, or keep them and fill them out for yourself.  Raffle Tickets will be due to be turned in by the third Saturday of December (12/21/2019) at the raffle ticket box at Schmitz-Maki Arena which is located behind the glass in the lobby of the arena.  Our drawings will begin shortly after ticket collection and be announced monthly online and via email during the season.

Jersey System For 2019-2020 (Upper Levels)

(Applies to Squirt/U10, Peewee/U12, Bantam/U15, Boys U16, and Junior Gold)

Every year, we struggle with jerseys, in 2015 we changed to player owned jerseys with permanently assigned numbers.  We did this for the following reasons:

  • Managing Jerseys is expensive for us.  -- Apart from replacement costs, storage, and managing them is time consuming.
  • Association owned jerseys seem to get treated differently than player/parent owned jerseys.  We know from other associations, player owned are treated better and last longer.
  • We've bought lower quality jerseys in the past, - Our stock is low and the quality isn't what we want.
  • We've got mix-matched jersey sets and want to look good as an association, and have access to grow more easily.

Here's how this works for this season:

  • Players who have not already been issued a jersey # or have not been in the association, will be issued a jersey set prior to District games starting.
  • The association has ordered jerseys up front.
  • If you need a replacement set of jerseys,  you will be required to purchase your next set.  Please contact the jersey coordinator if you are need of a new set of jerseys.
  • 1 set of game socks will be supplied by the association.

FITTINGS

  • All fittings have already taken place.
  • If you need to be fitted for a new jersey or if you are new to the association as a Squirt /U10 level or above, we will have jerseys available for fittings at the Open House/Registration.  If you are not able to attend registration for a fitting, please contact the jersey coordinator to make special arrangements.
  • Numbers will be assigned after registration of your player is completed.  They will be mostly random with a few exceptions:
  • 30 - 39 are reserved for goalies.
  • 13 will not be automatically assigned because of issues with Triskaidekaphobia and we won't assign that negative juju to any player.

The association will be guaranteeing your number for your time with FYHA with a few exceptions in which case you would work with FYHA to re-number your jersey sets:

  • If you flip from Girls hockey to Co-ed, all bets are off.
  • If you were playing co-ed this year and flip to girls, all bets are off.
  • If you leave the association and return, while your number is likely to remain available, upon return we don't promise a change won't be required.

U15 / Junior Gold Players

Special Note for 2019-2020 Girls U15 Players (Updated 8/5/2019): Girls U15s will co-op with Lakeville this season, but must first be registered through FYHA. The initial $100 registration fee and $70 tryout fee will be processed by FYHA, with future player fees being managed by Lakeville.

Junior Gold and Junior Gold 16: Junior Gold 16 and Junior Gold players go through a registration process that typically opens after the other levels have already closed.

FAILURE TO TRY-OUT OR OPT-OUT OF TRYOUT:  Players who decline to try out will participate at the lowest level offered (typically C).

Tryouts / Evaluations

Don't worry -- We DO NOT cut players.  If you decide to play, you will have a place on a team.

If your skater does not wish to tryout, they will automatically be placed on the lowest tier of teams available at their level.
